iEDGE Firmware Fix For DSi Firmware 1.4.1

The iEDGE cards installation guide is based on windows PC, NOT MAC. Important: if you want to update you i on your DSi console, please make sure that your DSi console is having a firmware version lower than 1.4.1. If your DSi has been updated to version 1.4.1, you will need to use a DS Lite console to update your iEDGE. Please take note, the firmware is different from the driver. To Check Your DSi Firmware Version:

  • Click SETTING (with the Tool Icon) on the main menu
  • Check the right hand corner of the top screen which says VER 1.x

Before flashing the iEDGE, check the following:

  • If you can see the following after you insert the iEDGE into the slot-1 of the DSi, that means the iEDGE has not been flashed yet. You need to start the setup from Format the Micro SD/SDHC Card.

  • If you can see the following icon instead of the BLACK EDGE icon, good news for you. Your iEDGE has been flashed with the 1.4.1 firmware fix. Please proceed to Format the Micro SD/SDHC Card1 to setup the OS.

  • If you can’t see either of the above two, you will need a DS or DS Lite to flash the iEDGE.

If you can’t see the BIN file, it is because the file is hidden. You need to enable the Visibility of the Hidden Files. For guides on how to activate the Visibility of the Hidden Files, please refer to below :

    • Double-click on thethe microSD root folder
    • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options
    • After the new window appears select the Viewtab.
    • Put a checkmark in the checkbox labeled Display the contents of system folders.
    • Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders.
    • Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide file extensions for known file types.
    • Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files.
    • Press the Apply button and then the OK button and shutdown My Computer.
    • Now your computer is configured to show all hidden files.

Important: bupdate BIN file is required for updating the iEDGE cart on the DS in the next step.

6.If you can't see the “bupdate BIN” file after enabling the Visibility of the Hidden Files, please restart from Format the Micro SD/SDHC Card.

7.Plug in the wall power adapter for your DSi. This is vital as flashing can't be interrupted. Do not turn on the DSi yet.

8.Plug in the microSD to the iEDGE and then the iEDGE into the slot-1 of the DSi.

Look at the iEDGE in the slot-1. The LED light inside the iEDGE should be visible as below (orange).

If the bootstrap flashing functions correct, the LED light should flash on and off.If the LED light is constantly on, that means that flashing does not function correct. Please restart the process from Format the Micro SD/SDHC Card.

The flashing will intensify slowly and the LED light will be off when the flashing is completed.
